And surprisingly, both city life and country living can have negative impacts on your auto transport quote.
But why?
Let’s take a country location if your pick up or drop off location is far from a main interstate transport route, it will take a carrier longer to get to you. More time equals more cost. There is also the problem that there will be fewer transportation trailers rolling past your location on any given day. This means possible fewer bids on your car transport request. Both may add up to higher transportation bids
So, then it seems obvious that a more urban location nearer a main interstate artery has a lower transport quote, right?
Maybe. Or maybe not.
If you live in an area known for traffic hazards with consistent and predictable slow-downs, construction backups, or access problems, you will see this reflected in a higher vehicle transport quote. Car transporters know their routes and their car shipping quotes will include the extra time it takes to get to certain locations. It’s just a fact that the more difficult it is to get to your car or truck, the more it will cost.
The good news is that you may be able to reduce your car transport quote by agreeing to a more accessible pickup and/or drop off location. And many cities and suburban areas have dedicated transfer terminals in more easily accessible locations. So, you can arrange to drop off or pickup your vehicles at a transfer terminal and, while this will eliminate the door-to-door service convenience for you, it will result in a lower car shipping quote as well.
