Preparing Your Car For Transport
What Can and Cannot be Stored in Your Vehicle
You’ve made the call and scheduled your vehicle for transport. Soon your car or truck will be headed across the state or even across the country, to your new home, new school, or your summer home down south (you lucky snowbird!) And, not only are you transporting your car or truck to a new home, temporary or permanent, you need to move a lot of other stuff along with it. What a cost and hassle savings if you can just fill up your car with all your personal belongings! That plant, those pillows, or what about all those books? Since you’re already paying to ship your car, why not use up all the empty space for your things?
Except that you can’t do it. Sorry, but car carriers will not allow this.
And why not?
Because a vehicle transport company has insurance that covers the shipping of your vehicle only. That’s it. There is no coverage for personal items whatsoever. Add to that, items in your car or truck would just add to the weight. And more weight means more cost for the transportation company.
Fill up your trunk with your valuables and you’re taking a big risk. There will be no itemized records and no insurance coverage for anything that is lost, stolen, or damaged.
But if you use a reputable and reliable car shipping company, you will never get to take the chance. Transporting personal items in your vehicle is simply not allowed.
If you have any questions about this, or any other question about shipping your vehicle, give us a call. We’ll be happy to discuss any aspect of the car transport process with you and help you to make the right choice.
